Utilization of multilingual resources for automatic lexical acquisition

The title of this post is basically the working title of my thesis project for University of Washington's CLMA (Computational Linguistics Master of Arts) program. My adviser is Dr. Emily Bender (hereafter Emily), and the research period is from now (spring quarter, 2008) to the end of summer quarter, 2008.

I will be mainly using the Turing Center's TransGraph (see here) and precision grammars produced with the Grammar Matrix to try and increase the size the lexicons of fledgling grammars (eg. those created within one academic quarter in Emily's course on grammar creation, Ling567: Knowledge Engineering, with very limited grammar coverage and a lexicon of only around 50 words).
